We are sisters but share a common
interest, anything that’s related to fashion and style. At times our style tend
to differ which makes it all the more fun.
I think it is because of the age gap and the life style. Each of us has monthly financial commitments,
therefore we are always on the lookout for a very good bargain.
Not one piece of clothing is ever
thrown away, or given away. We are frugal, and we hoard cloths and
accessorize like a miser. We recycle,
and re use vintage clothes. We rarely
throw away a piece of clothing, but if it has to come to that, as with everything
it has a shelf life, a piece of us goes with it. Every season we find ourselves
rummaging and recycling clothes that we have either forgotten about or get
buried in the recess or nook of one of the wardrobes or chest of drawers in our
bedrooms.
We are not fashion victims, and
there is no favourite designer, with none of us. We just observe what is being proposed during
the London, Milan, New York Fashion Week, by the Fashion Designers like Chanel,
Dior, Roberto Cavalli, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Gucci, Vivienne
Westwood, Burberry, Ermanno Scervino, Missoni, Emiglio Pucci, and adopt the
look accordingly. Designers hit and miss our tastes each season,
they can inspire our look for the season or otherwise.
Each of us has style icons, like,
Kate Moss, Alexa Chung, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwen Stefani, Cate Blanchette,
Nathalie Portman, Scarlet Johansson, Victoria Beckham and many more, including
fashion icons like Audrey Hephburn and Jacqueline Kennedy. One does not necessarily has to have lots of
designer clothes, what counts is how you mix and match from the wardrobe
stock. A black dress worn with
stilettos, gives that elegant sophisticated, and chic look. If the same black dress is worn with boots,
the look would be sexy, if else the black dress is worn with tennis shoes, it
is trendy, and cool. It is all about
assertiveness and creativity; Mix and Match.
Fashion is the tool, but the respective style is all about expressing
yourself.
